Community Guidelines
'Our rules, guidelines and principles'

Welcome to GirlCode, a space for authentic conversation and expression where you can have fun, learn, make meaningful connections, and share experiences with others around the world. These guidelines are designed to help you understand:

  • The principles that make GirlCode a special place

  • The primary roles that users play within the community

  • The rules we expect you to abide by as a GirlCode® member

  • What you can do if you come across inappropriate behaviour. 

 

Principles

Our community is built on the following principles, which we believe are essential to a positive and supportive environment:

  • Be Yourself: Celebrate your individuality and share your authentic self with the community.

  • Be Respectful: Treat others with kindness and respect, even when you disagree.

  • Be Inclusive: Embrace diversity and welcome everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs.

  • Build Empathy and Understanding: Listen with an open mind and seek to understand others' perspectives.

  • Foster Meaningful Connections: Engage with others genuinely to build lasting and supportive relationships.

 

Roles

Our community is made up of various roles that contribute to the GirlCode experience:

  • Member: A general community member who participates in discussions and activities.

  • Writer: A community member with the ability to post and edit content.

  • Moderator: A member responsible for moderating posts and ensuring the community guidelines are upheld.

  • Ambassador: A brand representative who helps create content and host events.

  • Hiring: Employers who use GirlCode to post job opportunities and connect with candidates open to new opportunities. 

  • Company Bootcamp Partner: Organisations that collaborate with GirlCode to offer bootcamp programs to the community.

  • Coding Course Instructor: Educators who provide coding lessons and workshops to the community.

 

Rules

When you use GirlCode, you agree to abide by the following rules at all times. Encouraging others to violate these rules is taken seriously and can result in removal from the platform.

  1. Use Your Real Name and Identity:

    • You must use your real name and identity on the platform. Verification through a LinkedIn profile is required, and fake profiles are not allowed.

  2. No Impersonation or Misrepresentation:

    • Do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.

  3. Prohibit Duplicate or Multiple Accounts:

    • Each individual is allowed only one account. Creating multiple accounts is not permitted.

  4. No Unauthorised Promotions:

    • Avoid promoting your account in ways that may confuse other members.

  5. Respectful Interaction:

    • You may not engage in abuse, bullying, or harassment of any person or groups of people. This includes offensive jokes, derogatory comments, and harassment.

  6. Prohibit Discrimination and Hateful Conduct:

    • Discrimination or hateful conduct based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, or any protected status is not tolerated.

  7. No Sharing of Private Information:

    • Do not share, threaten to share, or incentivise the sharing of others' private information without their permission.

  8. Avoid Disruptive Behaviour:

    • Intentionally disruptive activities, such as trolling, are prohibited and can result in suspension.

  9. Respect Intellectual Property:

    • Do not share or upload content that violates copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights.

  10. No Spread of False Information or Spam:

    • Avoid spreading false information or spam, and do not manipulate the platform for artificial amplification or suppression.

  11. Prohibit Harmful or Inappropriate Content:

    • Content that includes excessive violence, adult content, or any form of exploitation is strictly prohibited.

  12. No Illegal Activities:

    • Using the platform for unauthorised or illegal activities, such as promoting illegal goods, is not allowed.

  13. Report Violations:

    • If you witness a rules violation, please report it immediately through the designated channels.

 

What You Can Do if You Encounter Inappropriate Behaviour:

If you encounter behaviour that violates our guidelines:

  1. Report It: Use the report function to notify our team of any inappropriate behaviour.

  2. Block the User: Use blocking features to protect yourself from unwanted interactions.

  3. Contact Support: Reach out to GirlCode support for additional assistance.

 

Legal Note

  • You are solely responsible for your interactions with other GirlCode users. We reserve the right to determine what constitutes a violation of these guidelines at our discretion.

  • Our failure to enforce these guidelines in every instance does not waive our right to enforce them in the future.

  • We reserve the right to update these guidelines at any time. Changes will be posted on this page.
